HYBRID, IN-PERSON ENCOUNTERS EXTENDING BEYOND THE SCREEN
[UNTITLED MINIATURE]
For eight consecutive nights — three hours each night — Theater in Quarantine founder Joshua William Gelb was confined to a 34” × 19” box at HERE Arts Center, a scaled-down replica of the original closet calibrated to the proportions of a 30” television screen.
Across 24 hours, the performance unfolded simultaneously for online viewers, on HERE’s URHERE platform, and in-person attendees, who could move freely through the installation. A live chat, shared by both audiences, was rendered aloud via automated text-to-speech — creating a continuous loop of observation, commentary, and response.
Untitled Miniature stages a performance of feedback between audience and performer, the body and its mediated double — asking what happens to privacy when every moment is framed, broadcast, and consumed. .

“Exercising a form of endurance theater… Gelb underscores his thesis:
when our bodies are made for viral content, how bare can they be
to score clicks and comments?”
